"Pláticas"

This activity is in bilingual format (Spanish) and meets in the comfort of a private home. "Platicas" are informal and unstructured parent groups that are typically hosted by parents of children who have been diagnosed at the Child Study Center. The setting is comprised of family members and neighbors. Parents learn about the services provided at the Child Study Center and receive written material about behavioral and developmental disorders that affect children.

Spanish Language Services

Local healthcare providers report being overwhelmed by the number of children with learning, behavioral, and developmental disorders and cited the need for an accessible service for North San Diego County's Latino community. The lack of culturally appropriate services can be a major barrier to Latino parents, especially monolingual, Spanish speaking families. The North County Child Study Center offers full Spanish-language services for clients who require translation and interpretation. Currently, services in North County are not keeping pace with the rapidly growing Latino population.

Please contact Ana Lourdes Encinias, Community Outreach Worker, at (760) 603-7790 for further information or to determine sliding fee scale eligibility.
