Babies born at Tri-City Medical Center who stay in our NICU and who are at-risk for developmental delays are followed in our Developmental Assessment Clinic. The first visit is within 4-6 months of discharge, and then periodically until the age of 3, as needed. The Tri-City Medical Center DAC team includes a neonatologist, a neonatal nurse, a physical therapist or occupational therapist, and a speech therapist. These sessions include a brief physical assessment by the physician and nurse. Assessment of cognitive, language, behavior, and motor skills are completed by the therapists using standardized tests.
