Speech Therapy involves the treatment of various communication disorders, including those of speech articulation, language comprehension and expression, voice production, reading, writing, and cognitive skills. Evaluation and treatment focus upon identifying the patient’s deficits and developing a treatment plan to address them. The approach used depends on the type and severity of the disorder, as well as the individual’s goals and situation. Speech therapy is also involved in the evaluation and treatment of swallowing disorders.
