Inpatient Rehabilitation

Our program for inpatients at Tri-City Rehabilitation Center is designed to help patients reach the highest level of independence possible while addressing individual therapeutic and family issues. Outpatient Therapy Services

Programs available include Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine, Hand Injury Prevention and Treatment, Women’s Health Issues, Infants & Pediatrics, Workplace Safety & Rehabilitation, Communication and Swallowing disorders, Balance and Vestibular Disorders, Neurological Disorders and Wound Care. Therapy interventions include working with patients on everyday skills such as cooking and laundering clothing. We have a therapy kitchen, laundry center, and technology to transition back to work and the community. In some cases, special equipment or adaptation to resume activities may be required due to changes in mobility, cognition, etc. (i.e., cooking from a wheelchair). Our individual approach includes the patient’s immediate involvement in home exercise programs and referrals to community programs when needed.

Being recently designated as a Primary Stroke Center, Tri-City Medical Center is one of only five hospitals in San Diego County that has met or has exceeded stroke indicators set by the Joint Commission and the American Stroke Association.

Recognizing the signs and symptoms of a stroke can mean the difference between life and death. By receiving definitive care within the first three hours of onset of symptoms, a patient’s long-term prognosis is much better.

Rehabilitation Services provides in-depth and individualized physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to those who have experienced a stroke. Through the combined efforts of the Rehab team, mobility, self-care, homemaking, work skills, leisure and community skills are maximized. Areas of focus in therapy may include muscle strengthening, compensating for memory difficulties, vision retraining, and return to driving. Our therapists also have specialized training in fall prevention and safety.
